Welcome to Serene Reads & Dramatic Escapes by Moushmi
Hey there! I’m Moushmi. This is my little space on the internet where I talk about books that feel like soft escapes or dramatic whirlwinds—sometimes both at once. If you enjoy stories that blend humor with heart (and occasionally make you crave noodles mid-chapter), you’ll feel right at home here.

Here, I share honest, spoiler-free reviews, highlight standout moments or themes (such as food, relationships, or career journeys), and provide drama or movie recommendations that match the book’s vibe. So today I’m talking about The Stopover by T.L. Swan — not something I picked from my TBR honestly, but I was in the mood for some billionaire romance chaos, and this came up. I’ve heard a lot about the Miles High series, so I thought, why not start here?
💬 Let’s Talk About It
Okay, so The Stopover starts off pretty interesting two strangers, Emily and Jameson, meet on a flight, have this intense connection during a stopover, and then… life moves on. Until it doesn’t.
They cross paths again, and from there, it turns into a rollercoaster of arguments, misunderstandings, chemistry, and a lot of back-and-forth. Like seriously, they break up and come back so many times, I lost count. It got tiring after a point.
I liked Emily—she has her moments where she stands her ground. Jameson? Hmm, very intense, very “alpha.” But honestly, they just couldn't decide what they wanted from each other. And after a while, all that push and pull felt a little repetitive.
Also, and I have to mention this, I 100% thought this book would give some actual mile-high fun (based on the title 🙃). Turns out… I misunderstood the whole Miles High Club concept. Not one scene on the plane. Not one! Missed opportunity, right?
Now the ending… It felt rushed. After what happened, I really expected Emily to take her time. Her forgiving Jameson so quickly didn’t sit right with me. It felt too neat, too fast, and honestly? She deserved more than that.
The book does have its moments, especially their banter. That was the highlight for me. Their snarky conversations, little jabs, and sarcasm—it actually kept things fun in between all the drama.
📖 A Line I Liked
“You are my weakness, yet my greatest strength.” Pretty classic, but it stuck with me in the middle of all the chaos.
📝 Final Thoughts
Would I recommend it? Hmm… you can probably skip it unless you’re in the mood for a slightly chaotic billionaire romance with plenty of tension and some heat. It’s not one of those emotionally gripping stories — more of a back-and-forth ride with moments that land, and others that don’t.
About the Author
T.L. Swan writes steamy contemporary romances with confident, over-the-top male leads and plenty of drama. The Stopover is book one in the Miles High Club series—and while this one didn’t blow me away, it might work for you if you're into possessive CEOs and fiery dialogue.
